Following a planned transition in the mid-1990s, Harnois Énergies became the property of three children of the founders.
Serge Harnois has always been driven by an entrepreneurial spirit. It came as no surprise when he joined the family business in 1990 after completing his studies in business administration at École des Hautes Études Commerciales (HEC) of Université de Montréal. Today, as CEO, he has been able to surround himself with the best team to move the company forward. With vision and passion, he never stops seeking new opportunities and, under his leadership, HÉ has grown into a large-scale organization. Read more… Serge Harnois has also sat on the board of the Association des distributeurs d’énergie du Québec for six years, including two years as chairperson. He received the Order of Merit from the Ministry of Economic Development for his contribution to the development of retail sales in Québec. Thanks to his hard work, HÉ received the Desjardins entrepreneurs award in the large-scale organization growth category, in addition to being awarded many Excelsiors by the Greater Joliette Chamber of Commerce and the Coup de cœur award by Créateurs d’emplois in 2018 and 2019. These awards reflect his commitment and desire to continually strive for excellence.
Passionate about human resources and organizational development, Lysa has worked in the field for over 20 years. In her many years at Alcan (now Rio Tinto), she had the honour of holding several different Human Resources Manager roles, including at the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean site and the Montréal head office, as well as overseeing international teams. Read more… After such a rich and rewarding career at Rio Tinto, she decided to embark on a new adventure by joining Innergex, a Québec company dedicated to generating power from renewable sources. As Senior Director of Human Resources, she contributed to the company’s significant growth. Lysa was also the Vice President of Human Resources at Soucy, a manufacturing company that designs and manufactures various components for the industrial, agricultural, defence and recreational sectors. She holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations from Université Laval and participated in a number of skill-building programs during her time at Alcan/Rio Tinto, including coaching, lean and continuous improvement. In 2018, she completed The A Effect training, a program to encourage women leaders. Lysa will draw upon her experience implementing strategic plans and overseeing organizational transformation projects to support Harnois Énergies as it continues to evolve and grow.
Benoit Jodoin joined Harnois Energies in 2002 and was part of the development team of the affiliated service station networks for six years. In 2008, he was entrusted with the start-up of the lubricant sales and operations division. In 2012, he was appointed to the position of VP- Transportation, Operations and Logistics and later became VP – Commercial and Industrial Sales. With his extensive expertise and knowledge of the company, he is now VP- Sales and Business Development Read more… Benoit holds a certification in leadership and management skills from the Leadership Institute. He also studied business administration at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and economics at the Université de Montréal.
Driven by a great passion for retail operations, Steve Lamontagne has been working in the field for 30 years now, as a manager. After 8 years at Sobeys in different functions, he joined Loblaw limited 16 years ago as Market Manager. In 2007, a new challenge was offered to him in the position of District Manager, which he saw as a good opportunity to return to the privilege relationship shared between a retailer and his customer. Read more… Steve has completed a Business Administration academic training at Schulich School of Business in York University in 2014. That same year, he was appointed to the position of Group Manager at Provigo and was in charge of operations for franchised and affiliated retailers throughout Quebec and Atlantic provinces. In 2020, he also became responsible for operations for Provigo corporate stores. During his career, Steve worked in close collaboration with many retailers’ associations such as RCC, Food Retailer Association and QPMA.
Robert Mathieu joined the Harnois Énergies team in August 2021 as VP, Accounting and Controls. With many years of experience in finance and accounting, Robert holds a Bachelor of Administration (Accounting) and is a member of the Ordre des comptables professionnels agréés du Québec (Quebec CPA Order). Over the past 20 years, he was as chief financial officer at Alimentation Couche-Tard, where he was in charge of accounting and finance for Canada and Europe. His experience supporting operations and improving business processes will be an asset to our company as it continues to grow and evolve.
Martin joined Harnois Énergies in 2016. A graduate in mechanical engineering from Laval University, he began his career as a lubrication engineer with Imperial Oil. He then held various sales management positions in the chemical industry before joining Harnois Énergies.
Martin Rivard holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Université Laval in Quebec City and has more than 25 years of experience in management and in logistics and manufacturing operations. He has worked in the chemical and petrochemical industry for manufacturing firms serving Canada and North America with responsibilities in production, logistics, engineering, purchasing and R&D. Before joining Harnois Énergies, he was Vice President of Operations at Pelican International, Senior Director of Operations at Total Canada and Senior Director of Operations at AkzoNobel Canada.
A member of the Harnois Énergies team since January 2012, Marco Spain began his career at Deloitte where he worked while obtaining his Chartered Accountant (CA) and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designations. Recruited by the forestry sector, Marco was promoted to Director of Investment Management at Rexfor’s head office and later Vice President of Finance, a position he held for 10 years. Read more… Marco holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting sciences from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. In 2015, he received the CPA Emeritus Award for the Lanaudière region for the quality of his work and his social commitment, particularly his coaching of young deaf skiers for over 20 years. Throughout his career, Marco has been a director and member of audit and management committees for about a dozen firms, including a publicly traded company.
Stéphane Turbide holds an MBA and has over 25 years of experience in information technology management. He began his career as an IT director in a transportation and logistics company (Groupe Papineau). He then worked in software development as General Manager at Maddocks Systems in Montreal and Vancouver, and as Senior Director of Information Technology at Belron Canada Inc. where he developed his passion for the retail industry. Among other things, he was responsible for the technological integration of an acquisition of 300 sites across Canada. He continued his career at TC Transcontinental in the business solutions and performance indicators department.
